The Instinct of a Poet

Shattered angels

By the atrocities of Humankind

Their eyes are half-open

Directed towards heaven

They beg for help

To those who have stayed here

To those who fight for causes

With destructive weapons

A war wind blows

Ablaze and tragic

A wind blows

Carrier of wild sand grains

that create roots on each land

And who finds emotions in every humus

What can 

a poet’s instinct do?

Shout confusedly?

Implore his anxiety?

What can a poem do

other than confronting this wind

Of old memories,

Of hellish bloodshed ,

Of agony and unhappiness,

…of what humankind cannot?

It must not forget.

কবির সহজাত প্রবৃত্তি

ছিন্নভিন্ন ফেরেশতা

মানবজাতির নৃশংসতার দ্বারা

তাদের চোখ অর্ধেক খোলা

স্বর্গের দিকে নির্দেশিত

তারা সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করে

যারা এখানে থেকেছেন তাদের জন্য

যারা কারণের জন্য লড়াই করে তাদের কাছে

বিধ্বংসী অস্ত্র নিয়ে

যুদ্ধের হাওয়া বইছে

জ্বলন্ত এবং দুঃখজনক

একটা বাতাস বইছে

বন্য বালির দানার বাহক

যা প্রতিটি জমিতে শিকড় তৈরি করে

এবং যিনি প্রতিটি হিউমাসে আবেগ খুঁজে পান

কি পারে

একজন কবির প্রবৃত্তি কি করে?

বিভ্রান্তভাবে চিৎকার?

তার উদ্বেগ অনুনয়?

একটা কবিতা কি করতে পারে

এই বাতাসের মুখোমুখি হওয়া ছাড়া

পুরোনো স্মৃতিতে,

নারকীয় রক্তপাত থেকে,

যন্ত্রণা আর অসুখের,

…মানুষ কি পারে না?

এটা ভুলে যাওয়া উচিত নয়।
