1.

Between Two Thrilling Moments

Dr. Shailesh Gupta Veer

A moment,

Felt that –

Got everything!

Another moment,

Felt that –

Lost everything!

Between these two thrilling moments,

The journey is –

From egoism to meekness,

From excitation to calmness,

From inattentiveness to contemplation,

From suspension to meditation,

From paralogism to truth,

From illusion to sooth.

For centuries

In making

A human being to a good human being,

This journey has faithfully done its work,

This sequence will continue even further.

[The poem is influenced by the life of the great Indian emperor of the Maurya Dynasty, Ashoka the Great, who ruled almost all of the Indian subcontinent from c. 268 to 232 BCE]

 2-

When I Saw the Sun

When I saw the Sun,

Thought this is mine!

When I saw the Moon,

Thought this is mine!

When I saw the Stars,

Thought all these are mine!

When I saw the Sky,

Thought this is mine!

Then I wanted moreâ€Ļ!

I was dissatisfied

I was very unhappy

I was almost Goth!

When I realized that

All these are for everyone,

Then humanity awakened in me!

Now –

I am satisfied

I am blissfully!!

3-

The Village Will Give Them

They went from village to metropolis in search of work

They accepted that metropolis as their own

They handed over their blood and sweat there

They had also set some dreams for their future

In one stroke, the metros pushed them back

They have now returned to their own village as migrants

The village will give them the courage to live again

The village will shelter them again

The village will not let them starve!
